Group of Chinese medical experts coming to help fight COVID-19
MANILA – A team of Chinese doctors composed of experts are coming to the Philippines to help the government in its fight against COVID-19.
In a statement from the Chinese Embassy in Manila, it was learned Ambassador Huang Xilian talked on the phone with Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and exchanged views on the cooperation between China and the Philippines in its battle versus COVID-19.
The team of experts is composed of 12 medical doctors.
Ambassador Huang said the Chinese government will send a team of Chinese medical experts to the Philippines upon the request of the Philippine government. The help will come in the provision of technical advice on epidemic prevention and control along with sharing medical treatment experience.
The Chinese ambassador said he appreciates the active role that Secretary Duque and the Department of health had in the course of preparation as he assured Secretary Duque that the Embassy will continue to work closely with the DOH to facilitate relevant arrangements of the medical team.
In the course of their phone conversation, Secretary Duque expressed his sincere thanks for China’s support to the Philippines and looks forward to the Chinese medical team’s arrival.
The top Philippine Health official said his Department would actively coordinate with the Embassy to assure the medical team’s mission goes as smoothly as possible. (Melo M. Acuña)
