COVID-19 cases nearing 300k mark

COVID-19 total cases now 291,789.

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,635 new cases as of 4:00 P.M. today. The National Capital Region (NCR) reported 583 cases while Cavite had 102. There were 97 new cases in Iloilo, 67 in Rizal Province and Cebu reported 57 new cases.

In a statement, the DOH said 86.5% of these are mild cases, 9.2% as asymptomatic, 1.3% considered severe while 3.1% were in critical condition.

Total recoveries reached 230,643 with the recovery of 450 patients today. However, there were 50 deaths registered today for a total of 5,049 fatalities.

From a total of 1,900 ICU beds across the country, 48% have been occupied while 43% of 13,900 isolation beds have been utilized. The DOH reported 46% of the 5,600 ward beds have been used. From a total of 2,200 ventilators, 27% have been utilized.

According to the DOH statement released at 4:00 P.M. today, 3,221,770 have been undergone testing at 100 licensed RP-PCR laboratories and 30 licensed GeneXpert laboratories across the country.

Of the 3,221,770 persons tested, 10.4% have been found COVID-19 positive. (Melo M. Acuña)
