Crew dies in boat mishap
MANILA – A crewmember of an ill-fated motor banca drowned while 17 passengers and five crew members were rescued by responding crewmen of a passing roro at the vicinity of Atimonan, Quezon at 12:30 P.M. today.
Initial reports from the Philippine Coast Guard said the boat, M/B Gesu de Bambino was on its way to Perez town in Alabat Island when the seacraft submerged. The fatality was not identified in the report.
The rescue was posted on social media by a concerned passenger. The same video showed rough seas in Lamon Bay. This is a common occurrence during the easterly season. The boat operator was identified as one Delia Cuerdo, a resident of Perez town.
