COVID-19 cases in the Philippines near 450,000
MANILA – The Department of Health today reported 1,085 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total number of Filipinos afflicted with the coronavirus disease to 449,400.
In a statement released today, the DOH said 9,269 were reported to have recovered while three others died.
The total number of active cases has reached 21,980 or 4.9% of the total number while 418,687 (93.2%) have fully recovered. The same report disclosed there were 8,733 deaths or 1.94%.
Those found positive came from 26,603 persons tested with 4.1% of those tested. Those found positive had 90.2% were either mild or asymptomatic.
The top positive cases came from Quezon City with 103, Rizal Province with 46, Makati City with 44, City of Manila with 43 and Pasig City with 39 cases.
Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said there were eight (8) new COVID-19 cases today.
To date, 12,308 Filipinos were afflicted with COVID-19 and 7,997 fully recovered.The total DOH-IHR verified cases reached 3,390.However, there were 860 fatalities.The reported cases came from 82 countries or territories.There were no recoveries and deaths reported as of this writing.(Melo M. Acuna)
