AFP’s General Gapay expresses disappointment over the release of PNP elements in Jolo shooting
MANILA – General Gilbert Gapay, AFP Chief of Staff expressed disappointment with the release of nine members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) who were respondents to the murder of four Philippine Army (PA) intelligence personnel who were then on anti-terrorism mission when shot dead by police elements.
In a statement released early Monday evening, Major General Edgard Arevalo, AFP Spokesperson said it is “only unfortunate” that despite the Department of Justice’s filing online of a multiple murder case before the Regional Trial Court in Jolo last January 4,2021, no Warrants of Arrest have been issued by the court.
“We assure our personnel and the relatives of the slain soldiers that the AFP will continue with our persistent coordination with relevant government agencies for the issuance of the said Warrants,” General Arevalo said in his statement.
He said they will help in the immediate and unimpeded service of said warrants to the policemen involved in the fatal incident in June 29,2020 in downtown Jolo. (Melo M. Acuña)
