Wounded soldiers honored by AFP WestMinCom
MANILA – Wounded soldiers received decorations in recognition of their service during the fateful twin explosions in Jolo, Sulu the other day with the visit of Major General Corleto Vinluan, Jr. who checked on their conditions at the Camp Navarro Hospital in Calarian District, Zamboanga City yesterday.
In a statement from AFP-WestMinCom, it was learned General Vinluan conferred Wounded Personnel Medals to Sgt. Normal Santiago, Corporal Jesus Genora, Corporal Jeric Fil Villaruz, Privates First Class Jay Carbon, Jeffry Domingo and Rocelo Abacial, Jr.
They are among the 21 soldiers who were wounded during the explosions.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Western Mindanao Command, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims who succumbed due to the mindless acts of terrorism,” General Vinluan, Jr. added. He called on his personnel to pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded soldiers. (Melo M. Acuña)
