Diplomatic protest filed vs China
MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs yesterday lodged a diplomatic protest to China over the reported confiscation by the Chinese Coast Guard of fish aggregating devices locally known as “payao” of Filipino fishermen in Bajo de Masinloc last May.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs statement the Philippines “resolutely objected” to China’s continuing illicit issuances of radio challenges on Philippine aircraft doing legitimate regular maritime patrols in the West Philippine Sea.
The Chinese Embassy in Manila has not issued any statement to this report as of this writing. (Melo M. Acuña)
