Authority to travel certificates issued by PNP JTF COVID-Shield reach more than 50k

More than 57,000 travel authority passes issued to locally stranded individuals

MANILA – The Philippine National Police Joint Task Force COVID-Shield issued more than 57,000 Travel Authority to locally stranded individuals and other people whose travels were related to medical and family emergencies.

In a report to PNPO Chief General Archie Francisco Gamboa, Lt. General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said the issuance of travel authority is part of the national government’s efforts to assist as many people who need to go back to their hometowns especially students and workers, and others who have to go out or move to other areas out of necessity.

“Most of those issued with travel authority have long been reunited with their respective families. And we in the JTF-COVID Shield are also happy to assist those who sought our help or emergency-related travels,” said Lt. General Eleazar.

However, he said strict medical protocols are being observed before a travel authority is issued. Medical Clearance Certificate from the City of Municipal Health Office where the applicants would come from is the required document for the issuance of travel authority.

As of June 3, Lt. General Eleazar said the JTF COVID Shield has issued a total of 57,152 travel authority to locally stranded individuals and indispensable travel relating to medical and family emergencies.

It was learned most of the LSIs are from Luzon with the National Capital Region having the most travel authority approved at 10,230, Police Regional Office No. 3 with 9,711 and Cordillera Administrative Region with 6,863. The Ilocos Region also had 6,789.

The Bicol Region Police Office No. 5 issued 3,860, Police Regional Office 4B issued 3,213 while Police Regional Office No. 2 issued 1,810. CALABARZON or Police Regional Office. No. 4A issued 183.

In Central Philippines, Police Regional Office No. 7 issued 3,872, Police Regional Office No. 6 issued 3,564 and Police Regional Office 8 issued 966. In Southern Philippines, Police Regional Office. No. 9 issued 1,702 travel authority certificates while Police Regional Office 12 issued 1,242, Police Regional Office No. 11 issued 451, Police Regional Office No. 10 issued 175 while Police Regional Office BARMM issued 246.

At Camp Crame, the PNP Directorate for Operations issued 2,1764 certificates. (Melo M. Acuña)
