Chief Implementer Galvez calls for more quarantine facilities in Cebu; thanks Archdiocese of Cebu

More quarantine facilities in Cebu needed

MANILA – National Action Plan Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez said the government needs to expand its quarantine facilities in Cebu City.

At a midday briefing hosted by Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque, Secretary Galvez said the Philippine Red Cross has extended 14 tents while the DPWH Regional Office No. 7 identified 11 different sites for quarantine facilitis.

“These facilities would respond to the isolation requirements to prevent the further spread of the corona virus,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to the Archdiocese of Cebu for the use of the International Eucharistic Congress facility. He added they have provided about a hundred beds at the said quarantine facility.

Asked if he and his team remain free of COVID-19 infection, Secretary Galvez said the risk is part of their job and they would have to be extra careful.

“Two members of my team, a Head Executive Assistant and another tested positive for COVID-19,” he said. He explained they observe safety protocols and take vitamins more often and further complemented by prayers they won’t get infected. (Melo M. Acuña)
