Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visits Manila

China’s top diplomat arrives for two-day visit


MANILA – State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived shortly before 2:00 P.M., Friday to meet with his counterpart Foreign Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr and possibly President Rodrigo Duterte tomorrow.


It will be recalled Foreign Minister Wang visited Africa earlier and now in four of the ten-nation Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He earlier visited Myanmar, Indonesia and Brunei.


Minister Wang was met at the Villamor Air Base by Foreign Secretary Locsin, Philippine Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Chito Sta. Romana, DFA Protocol Chief Porfirio Mayo and Chinese Ambassador to Manila Huang Xilian.


In a statement, the DFA said China’s top diplomat will do bilateral meetings to boost cooperation, in trade and investments, infrastructure development as well as response to the prevailing COVID-19.
