COVID-19 cases continue to rise

COVID-19 cases breach 182,000 mark

MANILA – The Department of Health reported 4,786 new infections as of 4:00 P.M. today.

This is the fourth succeeding day where over 4,000 cases have been reported. The same report said 443 duplicate cases were taken of the figures. It is still the National Capital Region which topped the number of new COVID-19 cases at 2,716, Cavite province with 267, Laguna had 222, Batangas and Rizal with 185 each.

The Department of Health said there were 616 recoveries for a total of 114,519 while 59 others were reported to have died. The death toll has risen to 2,940.

According to the DOH update, from the new deaths, 69 percent or 41 took place in August 16, 27% in July and either two or three percent were last April.

To date, there are 80 certified polymerase chain reaction facilities with 27 GeneXpert laboratories that have tested 1,859,942 individuals. (Melo M. Acuña)
