DOH says COVID-19 figures now 241,987
MANILA – The Department of Health reported an additional of 3,281 new COVID-19 positive cases as of 4:00 P.M. today. The numbers broke the three-day trend of less than 3,000 new cases daily. The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the county has reached 241,987.
There were 1,420 new cases in Metro Manila followed by Cavite with 263, Negros Occidental with 264 new cases, Laguna with 197 and Rizal with 196.
In its release at 4:00 P.M. today, it was learned 89% or 2,932 of the newly reported cases contracted COVID-19 in the past two weeks. The DOH explained the new cases reported today were founded on data submitted by 81 of 115 operational laboratories nationwide.
Recovered increased to 185,178 with 286 more patients recovering from thee respiratory disease. Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 3,916 with 26 new deaths.
There are 52,893 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine where 88.6 percent are considered mild, 8.2 percent are asymptomatic, 1.3 percent have been classified severe and 1.9 percent now in critical condition.
More than 2.6 million have ben tested in 117 licensed laboratories across the country. Less than half the intensive care unit beds have been occupied while 27 percent pf mechanical ventilators have been utilized.
The government approved the use of antigen COVID-19 tests as a requirement for asymptomatic tourists and tourists who develop symptoms upon arrival at their destination. (Melo M. Acuña)
