DILG: Best practices shared with other LGUs

DILG looking into LGUs best practices in COVID-19 response

MANILA – The Department of Interior and Local Government is working with the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) where best practices are being shared with other local government units.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año said ULAP members, from the League of Provinces, League of Cities and League of Municipalities are closely coordinating with the Department.

“We have our ‘Ugnayan at Talakayan’ through Zoom almost every day and we talk with local government units where we share the outstanding achievements of different LGUs in their response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Secretary Año said during a press briefing at midday today.

He added these outstanding local government units could have been the reason why various towns have successfully shifted from General Community Quarantine (GCQ) to Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ). He added the country now has more areas under MGCQ.

The former AFP Chief of Staff-turned Interior and Local Government secretary expressed optimism these local government units will continue their respective programs and go into the new normal.

“We will continue to share experiences and learn from each other,” he concluded. (Melo M. Acuña)
