Energy Secretary Cusi “meets” China-based companies

MANILA – Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi “met” key business executives of China and Hong Kong-based companies to discuss potential investment opportunities in the Philippine energy sector.

In a statement, the Department of Energy said the executives were from the HBIS Group, Co. Ltd., BYD Auto Industry Co. Ltd., C&U, and Panhua Group, Co. Ltd. in a virtual meeting in a series of one-on-one discussions which form part of the Round Table Meeting for China’s International Fair for Investment and Trade which was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI0. The project was in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy in Beijing.

In his meeting, Secretary Cusi said energy’s role in President Duterte’s vision of realizing the “Golden Age of Infrastructure” is important in the “Build, Build, Build” program.

“We need energy to build, breathe life into industries, and keep the economy moving, especially at this time. We have been seeking to build our power capacity and attain energy security, thus opening doors in the establishment of energy infrastructure, e-transportation, and upstream and downstream oil ventures, among others,” Secretary Cusi said in his welcome remarks.

Among those who attended the Round Table Meeting were Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez who talked about Philippine government’s plans on rebuilding back better in the new normal, Department of Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar who discussed investment opportunities in the agriculture sector, officials from the Philippine Embassy in Beijing with Ambassador Jose Santiago Sta. Romana, DTI Undersecretary Ceferino S. Rodolfo, DAR Undersecretary Rodolfo Vicerra, Board of Investments Governor Angelica M. Cayas and Philippine Trade and Investment Center Hong Kong’s Vice Consul Roberto Mabalot, Jr. (Melo M. Acuña)
