Former Foreign Secretary Yasay honored by Malacanang, DFA Sec. Locsin

Malacañang condoles with the bereaved family of former Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr.

MANILA – The Office of the President through Presidential Spokesman Secretary Harry Roque extended their condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of former Foreign Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr. who passed away early Friday morning.

In a statement, Secretary Roque said Secretary Yasay served as Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Duterte Administration. Upon his retirement from government service, he served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Christian University.

“As we pay tribute and honor Secretary Yasay, we offer our sincerest prayers to the Almighty to grant him eternal repose,” Secretary Roque concluded.

Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. said the late Foreign Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr. “has donned the garment of immortality.

He said it was Secretary Yasay who recommended him for his assignment to the United Nations.

“He hurt no one and helped everyone he could. He did what many fighting tyranny had to: shield themselves with US law,” Secretary Locsin said in his Tweet 12 hours ago. (Melo M. Acuña)
