Beirut explosion toll: Four Filipinos dead, 31 injured
MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs said four Filipinos died while 31 others were injured in the early Tuesday night explosion that rocked Beirut, Lebanon.
“We are saddened by the latest turn of developments. The higher figure comes as our Embassy personnel work to ascertain the condition of Filipinos in its jurisdiction,” Foreign Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Sarah Lou Y. Arriola said in a statement released at 9:34 A.M., Manila time.
There is still one household service worker that remains missing.
“Two Filipinos remain in critical condition. They are confined and are being monitored at LAU Medical Center - Rizk Hospital,” according to Philippine Embassy Beirut Charge d’affaires Ajeet Panemanglor.
The latest DFA figures disclosed there are 31,916 overseas Filipinos in Lebanon. (Melo M. Acuña)
