Government issued memorandum on health and safety protocols for all workplaces

Government has enough protocols in all workplaces

MANILA – Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles said the Departments of Trade and Industry, Labor and Employment and other government offices issued a joint circular about the health and safety protocols that need to be imposed in all workplaces which involves all employees regardless of establishment, including service providers.

Speaking at the PCOO’s Virtual Presser hosted by Asst. Secretary Jayvee Lim Arcena, Secretary Nograles who sits as Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) vice-chairman said it is not only the responsibility of the government but by private establishments who employ the service providers.

“We call on everyone to cooperate with the government, including the general public to remain vigilant. We need to help each other,” Mr. Nograles said. He added they have the StaySafe program which will be launched soon.

He explained the general public will be empowered to report on establishments which do not comply with the government’s safety and health standards.

“If there’s one thing COVID-19 taught us is the importance of cooperation, to help each other,” he further said. This was his reaction to a question about the safety of both service providers also known as delivery crew and the consuming public. (Melo M. Acuña)
