Health care workers figures: 33 dead amidst COVID-19

COVID-19 hits medical front liners

MANILA – The Department of Health reported medical front liners have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Available figures from the DOH as of June 16,2020 reported 2,967 confirmed COVID-19 cases among health care workers. From these figures, 1,982 have recovered or 67%, 60 were asymptomatic (2%) while 892 were considered mild (30%) and there were no severe or critical cases reported. However, it was learned 33 or 1% died.

Nurses topped the list of health care workers afflicted by the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 at 1,081. There were 778 physicians and 202 nursing assistance. There are 117 medical technologists, 59 radiologic technologists, 42 midwives, 32 respiratory therapists and 21 pharmacists.

The report did not disclose whether all of them came from government and private medical facilities. No other details were released. (Melo M. Acuña)
