President Duterte keeps NCR under GCQ

National Capital Region remains under General Community Quarantine

MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte kept the National Capital Region under General Community Quarantine along with Cebu City beginning tomorrow, August 1st.

In his Talk to the People Address recorded last night and aired this morning at 9:00 A.M., the other areas under GCQ are Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal for Luzon, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Talisay Cities in Cebu along with Minglanilla and Consolacion towns in Zamboanga City in Mindanao.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque, the rest of the country are under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) until August 15,2020.

The National Task Force, Department of Interior and Local Government, Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic Teams will implement in areas with high community transmission what has been described as strict localized lockdown/ECQ in barangays where 80% cases are located and the publication of these areas.

Part of the measures are strict enforcement of minimum health standards, massive targeted testing, intensified tracing and quarantine of close contacts and isolation of confirmed cases and strict adherence to Oplan Kalinga implementation.

President Duterte directed government hospitals in the National Capital Region and Region IV-A to increase beds dedicated to COVID-19 up to 30-50% as private hospitals have been requested to increase their hospital bed capacity for COVID-19 from 20-30%.

Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega from the Department of Health and concurrent NTF Treatment Czar was directed to monitor the compliance of hospitals in these areas and to the organized One Hospital Command System in NCR, Region III and Region IV-A.

Local Government Units have been directed to submit daily updates and weekly comprehensive reports with daily trends of active cases, number and percent of population, cases in community isolation facility against health facility against home for priority areas or villages under localized lockdown.

Included in the data to be submitted are percent of close contact traced and percent of contacts in quarantine, number of utilization of community isolation beds, met health system capacity targets utilization and COVID Special Teams investigations and results. (Melo M. Acuña)
