President Duterte orders NBI to investigate the fatal PNP-PDEA shootout
MANILA – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque today said President Rodrigo Duterte directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), an agency under the Department of Justice, to investigate the fatal shootout between police and drug enforcement elements at a mall in Quezon City early evening last Wednesday.
In a statement released at 4:15 P.M. today, Secretary Roque said along with the directive, the chief executive ordered the joint panel of PNP and PDEA officials to stop their ongoing investigation.
“This is to ensure impartiality on the Quezon City shootout incident,” Secretary Roque added.
The shootout led to the killing of two police elements, a PDEA operative and the alleged asset used in the buy-bust operation and injuries to operatives from both sides. (Melo M. Acuña)
