President Duterte orders thorough investigation of Jolo twin bombings
MANILA - Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque said President Rodrigo Duterte to investigate the twin bombings at the heart of Jolo, Sulu yesterday.
Asked of President Duterte’s guidance or directives, Secretary Roque in a message to this writer said the chief executive wants an exhaustive investigation into the incident and “bring the perpetrators to justice.”
The Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command Spokesperson Air Force Col. Antonio Rafael Abundabar said the fatalities rose to 15 composed of eight soldiers, six non-combatants (civilians) and a member of the PNP’s Special Action Force.
Forty-eight civilians, 20 soldiers, three members of the Jolo Police and three members of the PNP Special Action Force were wounded.
Col. Abundabar said the suicide bomber has not been included in the fatalities. He added investigation is still going on.
Magdalo Party List said they condemn in the strongest terms the twin bombings in Jolo.
“As full investigations are being done, we hope that those responsible will be apprehended swiftly and brought to justice,” they said,
They also extended their deep sympathy to the victim’s families and the people of Jolo.
“We salute and thank you for your service and sacrifice,” the party list added referring to the soldiers who died in the twin incidents. They expressed optimism those who were injured would have speedy recovery. (Melo M. Acuña)
