Search and rescue operations to resume tomorrow
MANILA – the Department of Foreign Affairs today said the Japanese Coast Guard did not find any clue about the missing seafarers in their search and rescue operations today.
Citing reports from the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka, the DFA said the Japanese Coast Guard will resume their aerial sea search tomorrow.
It will be recalled the Japanese Coast Guard rescued two Filipino crewmembers. The third was brought to the nearest medical facility but was reported to have died.
The ill-fated cargo vessel, MV Gulf Livestock had 43 crew members, 39 of whom were Filipinos. They left New Zealand last August 15 and was bound for China with almost 6,000 cattle when it took water from rough seas brought by two successive typhoons which affected both Japan and the Korean Peninsula.
