Telco technical teams out to restore services asap
MANILA – The country’s telco providers confirmed typhoon “Rolly” affected their services.
In separate statements posted on the social media accounts, Globe Telecom said call, text and data and internet services in some parts of Albay, Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Masbate, Sorsogon, Quezon and Laguna have been affected due to what they described as multiple fiber cuts due to strong winds fueled by super typhoon “Rolly.”
They said Globe Prepaid, Globe Postpaid, TM, Globe Business, Globe myBusiness and Globe at Home customers in these areas may experience difficulty in making a call, sending SMS or using mobile data.
However, Globe Telecom said their technical teams are addressing the issue to bring their services back to normal at the soonest time.
Meanwhile, PLDT – Smart said as of 5:00 P.M., Manila time, they have restored their services in Northern Samar, of the areas affected by Typhoon “Rolly.”
In its latest advisory, PLDT-Smart said their technical teams are working round-the-clock to restore services in affected areas. They have focused their work in Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes which were severely affected by the weather disturbance.
They added they have pre-positioned Libreng Tawag (free calls) and Libreng Charging (free charging) stations to help people in affected areas.
“In the interest of public safety, operations of these facilities will commence as soon as the storm has passed,” they concluded.
Both telco providers did not disclose damage to their facilities as of this writing. (Melo M. Acuña)
