US Ambassador Sung Kim bids President Duterte goodbye
MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte congratulated outgoing American Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Y. Kim for his successful tour of duty in the Philippines during the latter’s farewell call today.
The President, expressed appreciation for Ambassador Kim’s vital contributions in strengthening the alliance and partnership between the Philippines and the United States.
In a statement, the Office of the President said Chief Executive conferred ton Ambassador Kim the Order of Sikatuna, with the rank of Datu (Grand Cross), Gold Distinction.
Ambassador Kim served in the Philippines for almost four years where the Philippines-US relations marked achieved milestones including the historic return of the Balanggiga Bells to the Diocese of Borongan, Easter Samar in December 2018.
Cooperation in various areas or shared interest, especially in defense and security, trade and investments, and people-to-people exchanges expanded.
Ambassador Kim thanked President Duterte for a productive bilateral engagement with the Philippines. He said the US remained committed to the alliance and partnership with the Philippines that are based on shared values and meaningful history, according to the statement. (Melo M. Acuna)
