Two dead, four missing as rains batter Bicol
MANILA – Reports from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (RDRRMO) in Legazpi City disclosed hundreds of people are still displaced due to the ongoing weather disturbance in the region.
Two were reported to have died in Garchitorena in Camarines Sur while another died in Pilar, Sorsogon. However, the RDRRMO said they are still verifying the information with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
However, four others were reported to be missing with two persons from Garchitorena, Camarines Sur and one each from Bulan, Sorsogon and Labo, Camarines Norte.
Twenty towns and three cities reported 138 flooding incidents in their respective areas as 28 landslides took place in 17 towns and two cities brought about by continuous rains.
Flight to and from Naga City have been cancelled due to the inclement weather. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Bicol reported seven national roads have been limited to one-lane capacity while three national roads have been rendered unpassable. (Melo M. Acuña)
