Seventeen dead, 40 injured in AFP C-130 crash
MANILA – Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana today said an Philippine Air Force C-130 plane crashed while landing at Jolo Airport at about noon today.
In a statement issued shortly before 4:00 P.M. Manila Standard time, he said there were 92 personnel aboard including three pilot and five crew members.
“So far 40 wounded and injured were rescued while 17 bodies were recovered. Rescue and recovery (operations) is still on going,” he said.
A Philippine Air Force C-130 crashed in the mountains of Camarines Sur in December 15,1993 which killed all the 30 persons, 24 passengers and six crew members. (Melo M. Acuña)
