Daily jabs per day near 500k

Over 400k jabbed Thursday nationwide

MANILA – The National Task Force against COVID-19 reported 472,356 Filipinos received their needed vaccines last Thursday. It is the highest number achieved since the vaccination campaign began last March 1,2021.

The NTF reported 5,560,029o Filipinos have been fully vaccinated and 10,866,238 received their first dose.

“We are not past the crawl and walk stages, as we gradually run towards our goal of inoculating half a million Filipinos per day this quarter. This is a preview of better things to come in the remaining six months of 2021,” said NTF vs COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr. in a statement. The accomplishment came despite the inclement weather where frontline workers attended to their duties.

The NTF earlier said with the continuous arrive of vaccines, including the donated one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccines, the government will continue to attend to the most vulnerable sectors, senior citizens (A2) and persons with comorbidities (A3).

From the 16.4 million total vaccines administered since March 1, 2.8 million were given as first dose to senior citizens, while 1.4 million doses were given to them as second shot.

The 3.5 million doses were administered to the A3 group as the first dose, while 1.8 million of the sector’s members are now fully jabbed.

As of yesterday, the country has received a total of 30,985,130 doses of anti-COVID vaccines from a number of manufacturers. The bulk of the supplies the country received were delivered this July with a total of 13.5 million doses.

Six million doses are expected to be delivered during the last week of July. Last February, only 600,000 doses were delivered. The Philippines has secured a total of 164 million anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses for 2021. These vaccines were bought by the national government, private sector and local government units, while the rest were sourced from the COVAX facility and bilateral donations.

The Philippines is still negotiating for some 26 million doses with difference vaccine manufacturers to assure everyone of stable supply next year as preparations are made to inoculate Filipino teeners. (Melo M. Acuña)
