National government releases almost P11 billion for “ayuda” to nCR
MANILA – The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) released P10.894 billion to shoulder the financial assistance to affected individuals and households in the National Capital Region, where Enhanced Community Quarantine from August 6-20 this year.
In a statement, the DBM said the funding requirement was taken from the certified sayings from the FY 2020 Continuing Appropriations according to Administrative Order No. 41. The cash aid will be released directly by the Bureau of Treasury to the involved local government units through their authorized government servicing banks.
Upon receipt of the funds, the LGUs shall facilitate and determine the most efficient and effective way for the provision of financial assistance to their residents. Low-income persons and families will receive P1,000 per person and a maximum of P4,000 per household for their food and non-food requirements during the lockdown.
The cash aid will benefit 10.9 million persons or the bottom 80 percent of the population in Metro Manila according to the Philippine Statistics Authority’s population projection and available data.
The distribution will still be monitored by the Departments of Interior and Local Government and Social Welfare and Development.
