Labor secretary holds deployment to Israel
Labor Secretary Bello suspends deployment of health care workers to Israel
MANILA – While Alert Level 1 remains in Israel, Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said while they are now totally banning the deployment of health care workers to Israel, he called on the caregivers and health care workers to temporarily postpone their scheduled trips while the tension remains high.
“We have not banned the deployment of our workers to Israel. The processing of those who already qualified continues,” Secretary Bello said in a statement.
He added they are merely suspending their actual departure while the tension is still high.
Secretary Bello said he called on those scheduled to leave for Israel to postpone their trips for a few days so that they would not be endangered as the fighting continues between Israeli forces and Hamas militia from the Gaza Strip.
“Sagutin ko po sila kay Pangulong Duterte kung ano man ang mangyari sa kanila in case sila ay umalis sa kabila ng mataas na tension sa Israel,” Secretary Bello explained. He said it may take a few days but what’s important is for them to be safe. (Melo M. Acuña)
