Number of single-day COVID-19 infections rise to 11,021 cases
MANILA – The country’s total number of COVID-19 cases reached 1,649,341 today with 11,021 new infections, the highest recorded since mid-April with three laboratories failing to submit their data prior to the cut-off time.
Today is the second day where over 10,000 cases were reported. Last April 11, the highest single-day COVID-19 cases reached 11,101 cases.
The country’s total active cases reached 73,063, reported to be the highest since April 25.
The Department of Health said 93% are considered mild, 3% are asymptomatic, 1.8% severe, while 1% are reported in critical condition.
Recoveries reached 1,544,443 upon the recovery of 9,194 patients from the virus.
According to the statement, there have been 162 new fatalities for a total casualty toll at 28,835.
They have removed 15 duplicate cases.
According to the DOH, 62% of the intensive care unit beds nationwide are utilized and 43% of the country’s mechanical ventilators are in use.
At the National Capital Region, 59% of the ICU beds have been used with 46% of the patients are hooked into the mechanical ventilators. (Melo M. Acuña)
