46th Year of Philippines-China diplomatic relations marked
MANILA – The Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry under its President Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong, led the virtual celebration of the 46th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China.
President Rodrigo Duterte said in his prepared message that he is pleased the FFCCCII marked the 46th Anniversary of the Philippines-China Relations as well as the 20th Anniversary of the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day which was enacted during the time of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
“Today’s celebration reminds us of the deep and abiding friendship between the Filipino-Chinese peoples. It is a bond that predates by centuries, the formal establishment of diplomatic relations 46 years ago,” President Duterte said.
He credited the Federation for being a partner in the pursuit of deeper economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
He said as both countries approach the 50th Anniversary of Philippines-China ties, “win-win” cooperation will assure everyone the relations will remain a partnership for greater peace, progress and prosperity.
President Xi Jinping extended his warm greetings and wishes to President Duterte, the Philippine government and the people of the Philippines.
In his message to President Duterte, President Xi said both countries are friendly neighbors with time-honored friendship. He added with the concerted efforts of both sides, China-Philippines relations have been healthy and stable, “bringing tangible benefits to our two peoples.”
Meanwhile, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi said during the recent years, under the care and guidance of Presidents Xi Jinping and Rodrigo Duterte, “China-Philippines relations have sustained healthy and stable development.”
“I stand ready to work with you to fully implement the important consensus between the Heads of States of our two countries to fight against COVID-19 pandemic hand in hand, constantly deepen cooperation, and effectively manage difference, so as to promote faster and better development of the China-Philippines Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Relationship.
