Restaurants now open to 10% of seating capacity

Further easing of rules under MECQ announced


MANILA – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) approved the recommendation to allow restaurants, eateries, commissaries and other food preparation establishments to accommodate dine-in customers under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) with initial 10% venue or seating capacity.


In a statement released shortly after 9:00 P.M., Thursday, Secretary Roque said these food preparation establishments, may operate their indoor dine-in services beyond this limited provided they adhere with the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 21-01 (series of 2021) or the Safety Seal Certification Program.


The IATF-EID approved the resumption of operations of beauty salons, barbershops and nail spas at an initial venue of 30% venue or seating capacity under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine areas. These establishments shall only provide services that can accommodate the wearing of face masks at all times by clients and service providers.


Secretary Roque added personal care establishments may operate beyond this limitation provided they also comply with the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 20-01 (Series of 2021) or the Safety Seal Certification Program.


Personal care establishments and services not mentioned in the statement will not be allowed to resume business operations. (Melo M. Acuña)
